There people trained from 19 secondary schools, 9 primary schools, 3 special schools, a secure residential unit, the voluntary sector, Connexions/Futures, and the Youth Offending Service in Sheffield. Over 25 school nurses have been trained as well as residential social workers.
We have been commissioned to train 100 people who work with young people in Doncaster (where the Flower 125 programme is used as part of their targeted youth support) and 50 in Rotherham.
Please refer friends and colleagues who work with young people to this website for information about the programme. To find out more about the programme or to discuss your training needs go to the contact us page.
Training to Facilitate the Flower 125 Health Programme.
In order to facilitate the Flower 125 Health Programme you should attend the training programme that we offer. The training is over 2 days and delegates have the opportunity to:
- Find out about the history of the programme
- Find out about the model that is an essential part of the programme
- See a session in action
- Experience what it is like to be a young person participating in the programme
- Meet other people that are working in a similar way with young people
- Leave the training with a comprehensive resource pack to enable them to run the programme
- Have the future support of the trainers
- And to have fun while doing all of the above!
We do not recommend that you deliver the programme alone and therefore we suggest that if possible 2 or 3 delegates from schools and other settings attend the training together. This does not, however, mean that you cannot run the programme if you attend the training alone - you will just have to find an enthusiastic and available person to work with you!!!!!
Feedback from training
Responses in answer to “Please Tell Us 3 Things That You Enjoyed”
- I had to write to let you know what a fantastic 2 days training you and the team put on for us this week. In 10 years of doing what I do I have attended many, many training courses and the Flower 125 project is head and shoulders above anything I have ever done before. The whole experience was amazing and so enjoyable, the venue, the training and with humour in the group, it was a great part of our learning and it left myself and Carlos wanting more.
- I just wanted to thank you and Val for a fantastic two days training last week. I know everyone enjoyed it and you are both an inspiration to us all.
- Sharing ideas and experiences with other workers
- Sharing good practice/approaches Variety of the programme
- The energy and enthusiasm within the group
- Everyone was willing to participate and it was a good mix in the group
- The commitment and enthusiasm of the facilitators
- Hearing the anecdotal evidence of how the programme works
- The way the whole session was presented (not just one person’s voice)
- Role-play. Use of games - easier to give out instructions if you have experienced them yourself
- Everyone was willing to participate and it was a good mix in the group The Laughter
- Having chance to practice/practicing a session
And “One Thing That You Would Change”
- Should have regular training like this - but you can’t help that!
- Nothing - a great day
- Really can’t think of anything - I hope we all do keep in touch to share how our sessions go. Would be good to have some kind of re-union after all sessions have been delivered!!
- Nothing, what an OUTSTANDING and ENJOYABLE course. I think it should be something that everyone who works with children should do
- To meet up with group members for feedback sessions and to share experiences
