MySpace Bash & NHS Teen LifeCheck Competition!!
September 2009
As you may already know NHS Teen LifeCheck is a free, easy to use interactive online quiz offering lifestyle advice to 12-15 year olds which was recently rolled out nationally by the Department of Health.
To encourage young people across the country to log on to www.teenlifecheck.co.uk a competition is being run in partnership with MySpace, the online social networking site, to give all secondary schools across England the chance to win the bash of the year at their school.
The competition is called MySpace Bash and to enter, pupils need to log in to or create a MySpace account and vote for their school or college. The school with the most votes wins. Once logged on, if pupils then complete NHS Teen LifeCheck they will receive further votes for their school.
Voting will be open between 14th September and 30th October 2009. The winning school will be notified and announced by Friday 6th November. The party must be held on Monday 30th November 2009. The competition is open for anyone to enter although people must have a MySpace profile, be logged in and can only vote for their school once. The event itself is open to pupils aged from 13 upwards.
The all expenses paid party will include: two of the best bands in music today, who will play at the winning school; provision of non-alcoholic refreshments and decoration of the school hall or gym.
MySpace will also:
- Hire security to ensure the event is safe for pupils
- Provide 400 T-shirts for the pupils who attend the party at the winning school
- Work with the winning school to arrange a suitable meet and greet with the artists
- Offer to set up an online safety workshop
- Provide £2,000 for music equipment to the winning school
- Provide £500 for music equipment and 100 MySpace Bash T-shirts to the two runner up schools
- Cover the cost of any extra cleaning after the event
Details of this competition may have reached you directly from MySpace, if not I encourage you to enter and to pass this email/letter onto your Head of Music or Head of Performing Arts.
